You'll Want to Book It to These Kid-Friendly Shows on Broadway!

I’m a sucker for a great musical. I grew up listening to Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, and more. Now that I have a daughter, I can’t to share my love of Broadway with her. But I probably have a few more years until she can fully appreciate (and sit still) during a show. However, that doesn’t stop me from browsing all the new musicals on Broadway and I was surprised to see how many are family-friendly. Alas, I can’t justify a trip to New York right now, so I’ll just cross my fingers they come to SoCal soon.

Join Aladdin, Jasmine and the hilarious Genie on a magic carpet ride you'll never forget. Disney's Tony-winning adaptation of their 1992 movie is Broadway's biggest family musical, packing in romance and adventure, and all the classic songs from the film.

The Lion King

I have to confess, I did see The Lion King on Broadway a while back when it came to Los Angeles and it was definitely worth it! Based on the beloved Disney movie, this Broadway blockbuster transports you to the African Serengeti, where you'll meet the young lion prince Simba, who must battle to reclaim his thrown in the face of tragedy.

Everybody's favorite sardonic cat celebrates the holidays in his own inimitable fashion this Christmas! Full of wit and wise cracks, Garfield finds himself low on Christmas spirit. But with the help of Jon, Odie and of course you, his new holiday friends, Garfield gets an "enlightening" lesson in humility and charity. Plus, it’s chock full of memorable Christmas classic tunes such as "Jingle Bells", "We Wish You a Merry Christmas", "Deck the Halls", plus four original songs written especially for the show and accompanying movie.

From games and mischief to Thing One and Thing Two, The Cat brings all sorts of trouble to this grey day - but will Sally and her brother be able to explain the mess to their mother? Faithfully sticking to the plot of the book, the show follows the zany adventures that Sally and her brother embark upon when the Cat in the Hat appears in their home when their mother has gone out. All sorts of fun ensues, including balancing on giant rubber balls, juggling and silly dances, all narrated with Seuss' extraordinary verse and set against a wonderfully designed set, that recalls the look of the book's original illustrations.
